Armada Dish Sterling Silver 5"

Our classic sterling silver Elizabethan Dish is handcrafted by our team of expert silversmiths and lends itself well to engraving of initials or a commemorative message. It will add a special touch to any occasion, whether it be a leaving or achievement present, award or decorative gift for the home.

Also known as an Alms Dish, the original dish was reputedly made from silver taken from the Spanish Armada in 1588, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. In about 1645, during the civil war, it was buried in a field to avoid seizure by the Parliamentary troops, where it lay undisturbed until early in the 1900's when it was rediscovered. This interesting and attractive dish has been inspired by the original and incorporates the staggered hall-marks characteristic of the era. Supplied in a presentation box. This item has the option to be engraved. To view the options, add the item to your basket.
